چکیده
1 Computer Science College, Sichuan University Abstract. In ultrasound image, because of the presence of speckle, the image contrast resolution is reduced. And the image speckle noise also limits the effective application of image processing and analysis methods such as edge detection and segmentation methods. In recent years, a class of new methods called anisotropic diffusion has been developed in the field of ultrasound image speckle reduction. From the aspect of the quality of ultrasound speckle reduction, this class of method is desirable, however, most of this kind of methods are slow in speed. In this paper, we propose a new anisotropic diffusion based speckle reduction method which uses local coherence to control diffusivity in each pixel. We use additive operator splitting method to discretize our method to reduce the time consumption, Comparing with traditional methods, our method is faster in speed and, at the same time, its smoothing result is acceptable in terms of image quality.

By incorporating local physical characteristics of the image, in this case scatterer density, in addition to the gradient, into existing tensorbased image diffusion methods, we were able to greatly improve the performanc...
متن کاملUltrasound Speckle Reduction via Super Resolution and Nonlinear Diffusion
Recently, some diffusion-based filtering methods have been developed such as anisotropic diffusion (AD) or nonlinear diffusion (ND), which can reduce the speckle noise, at the same time, preserve and enhance the edge/borders in ultrasound image. However, because of the granular pattern of speckle, it is quite difficult to reduce speckle exactly through diffusion-based methods only. In this pape...

Speckle noise is supposed to be dependent on the signal intensity in the sense that the noise level increases with the brightness. Many approaches have been proposed to reduce the speckle effect in coherent imaging. Early works used the adaptive filters based on linear minimum mean square error by taking local statistics. The best-known filters include the Lee filter[1], Frost filter[2], Kuan f...
متن کاملOptimized GPU Framework for Semi-implicit AOS Scheme Based Speckle Reducing Nonlinear Diffusion
Ultrasound image quality is degraded because of the presence of speckle, which causes loss of image contrast resolution and makes the detection of small features difficult. The traditional nonlinear diffusion filtering of speckle reduction with explicit schemes can achieve desirable results, but they are only stable for very small time steps. Semi-implicit additive operator splitting (AOS) sche...
متن کاملSpeckle reducing anisotropic diffusion
This paper provides the derivation of speckle reducing anisotropic diffusion (SRAD), a diffusion method tailored to ultrasonic and radar imaging applications. SRAD is the edge-sensitive diffusion for speckled images, in the same way that conventional anisotropic diffusion is the edge-sensitive diffusion for images corrupted with additive noise. We first show that the Lee and Frost filters can b...
